Where does the behaviour happen? That decides the hardware.

Every Tobii system records the same thing: where people look, for how long and in what order. The difference is where your participants are.

Webcam or dedicated tracker? In a study at Uppsala University, Tobii Nexus achieved 1.64° median accuracy and 0.85° precision in the lab, against the 3 to 5° commonly reported for webcam systems. Use webcam eye tracking for scale, reach and AOI-level insight. Choose a Tobii screen-based tracker when you need small AOIs, higher sampling, pupillometry or advanced eye-movement measures.

03 · Software

Design, record and analyse in one place.

Tobii Pro Lab is the analysis home for Tobii’s research systems. It is sold as a perpetual licence or a yearly subscription, in four editions, and runs on Windows 11.

Running an older Tobii? Tobii has replaced Pro Nano and X2-30 with Spark, TX300 with Spectrum, X3-120 with Fusion, and Pro Glasses 2 with Pro Glasses 3. Pro Lab compatibility with those older trackers is no longer guaranteed from version 25.7. Tobii runs an upgrade programme for existing owners: ask us what it means for your lab.

06 · Questions

Before you specify.

Which Tobii eye tracker is right for me?

Start with where your participants are. At a screen, Spark suits most UX and teaching labs, Fusion adds portability and higher sampling for infants and children, and Spectrum is for psychophysics, reading and timing-critical work. In the real world, Pro Glasses 3 suits research that needs raw data; Glasses X suits training and workplace studies where speed of set-up matters most.

Can I get raw data from Tobii Glasses X?

Glasses Explore, which ships with Glasses X, gives visual insights rather than raw data. If you need raw gaze data, add Tobii Pro Lab, or choose Pro Glasses 3.

Can I run eye tracking with just a webcam?

Yes. Tobii Webcam Eye Tracking runs inside Tobii Pro Lab, on-site at your own workstations or online with participants’ own computers. It suits AOI-level studies at scale; for fine precision, pupillometry or high sampling rates, choose a Tobii screen-based tracker.

Is Tobii Pro Lab a subscription?

You can choose. Tobii sells Pro Lab as a perpetual licence or a yearly subscription, in Full, Analyzer, Screen-based and Distributed Online editions.

Can Tobii record EEG and GSR at the same time?

Yes. Pro Lab records Shimmer3R GSR natively. EEG, ECG and fNIRS are recorded in partner software, such as Bitbrain, and merged with the eye-tracking data in Pro Lab.

Who sells and supports Tobii in the Middle East?
