Bitbrain and Tobii wrote this guide together. Its premise is simple: gaze, brain activity and physiology each tell part of the story, and together they tell much more, provided they are recorded in sync.
Three data streams
- Visual attention from camera-based eye tracking.
- Brain activity from EEG, wet for highest signal quality or dry for speed and flexibility.
- Physiology: ECG, EMG, GSR, blood volume pulse and respiration.
Bitbrain’s SennsLab and Tobii Pro Lab both automate the synchronisation, so responses can be compared across participants for the same moment.
In the lab and out of it
For screen-based studies, the guide pairs the 12-channel Bitbrain Diadem with Tobii Pro Spark. For real-world work, it pairs Bitbrain’s textile Ikon EEG with Tobii Pro Glasses 3.
Two case studies
- TECNALIA measured visitor engagement in a maritime museum with Diadem, the Bitbrain Ring, Tobii Pro Glasses 3 and indoor positioning.
- Tsinghua University combined a driving simulator, Tobii Pro Fusion and 32-channel Bitbrain EEG to separate visual distraction from cognitive load.
From Consort XPR: These are the same combinations we specify for research labs across the region. Our Technology page compares each option line by line.
