Every organisation has people whose skill lives in their eyes and hands rather than in a manual. When they retire or move on, that knowledge goes with them, and new starters take longer to reach the same standard. Tobii built Glasses X to close that gap.
What Glasses X records
Glasses X captures a point-of-view video with the wearer’s gaze overlaid, so you see exactly what an expert notices, checks and prioritises while they work. That makes unconscious habits visible, and it exposes inefficiencies, safety risks and blockers that ordinary observation misses.
The glasses are lightweight, calibration-free and plug-and-play, so teams can start recording within minutes. Recordings are reviewed in Glasses Explore, Tobii’s companion software, which turns gaze data into findings without specialist skills.
Why onboarding is the target
Tobii points to industry research on how pressing the problem is:
- A 2023 Verdantix report found 71% of manufacturers now rank onboarding as a top priority.
- Poka’s 2023 State of Training in Manufacturing report found 62% expect to expand on-the-job training, while only 35% rate their programmes as highly effective.
- Tobii also reports that companies such as Denso have halved training time with eye tracking.
Where it fits
Tobii positions Glasses X for manufacturing, assembly, quality assurance, and marketing and consumer research: anywhere the goal is faster onboarding, lower training cost and knowledge that stays in the business.
From Consort XPR: We supply, set up and support Tobii Glasses X across the GCC and the Levant, and it is the wearable in our mobile lab kit.
